RIM's Author of the Month for September- AUTHOR KITTY K. FREE

RIM's Author of the Month for September-
AUTHOR KITTY K. FREE

1. Tell us a little about you.
I’m a South Bronx native that loves to write and draw.  I’m an only child, though life has blessed with two people that I call my sister and brother.  The most interesting thing about me is that I wrote a novel about female masturbation. Other than that, I’m pretty boring.

2. How did you choose the genre you write in?
I didn’t necessarily choose a genre.  I know about being a woman, so I write about it. I do so in a few different genres.  My first published novel is contemporary female fiction; however, I’m working on a few sci-fi projects.  I love creating worlds.  My intention is that no matter the genre, I’ll have a female heroine.  I like working with the theme of women coming into their own, and taking control of their lives.
My published novel, despite its title, is not erotic.

3. Do you work with an outline, or just write? Why do you choose this method to write your books?
I’ve tried using an outline, but I work better without one, so I just write.  I have a hard time with structure period (in many facets of my life).  It’s easier for me to just go. I usually have a theme, and I just work on keeping that in mind as I’m writing.  After I’m done with my first draft, I’ll jot down an outline to maintain continuity–basically so I don’t lose myself in the story, and so I don’t trip over anything.  For the most part, I just go for it.  I’ve read some experts say that it takes longer to write that way, because of the lack of organization.  I don’t mind.  I have to feel pleasure when I write, because if I do, I hope the audience will feel pleasure when they read it.  Too much organization does not make me feel good.  It would feel like a job, instead of just work.  I don’t mind working, but I don’t like jobs.

4. If you had to go back and do it all over, is there any aspect of your novel or getting it published that you would change?
I would’ve worked closer with my editor. I would get one that lives within driving distance.  I’m still in the process of learning a lot, so there are areas where I’m sure I’m messing up, that I’m not even aware it of yet (the blissful ignorance of being a novice).
Getting published was fairly easy, since I’m an indie author/publisher. Much easier than it would’ve been a few years ago.  You just need lots of patience.  Doesn’t take much money.  Now, that’s just the publishing part.  The actual marketing and reaching your audience is hard.  I’m a very shy person, so reaching my audience may be harder than for someone with more chutzpah.

5. Can you tell us about your upcoming book?
I’m working on a sequel to Confessions of a Serial Masturbator, as well as somewhat of a prequel, about the main character, Breezy Deigh.  I’m also working on a series about an island of folks off the coast of South Carolina, which will have somewhat of a mystic feel to it.   Aside from that, there are two other sci-fi series that I’m laying the ground work for as well.

6. Are there certain characters you would like to go back to, or is there a theme or idea you’d love to work with?
In Confessions… the main character has a set of friends that I’m going to delve into a little more, in the prequel and the sequel.
I have ideas for some graphic novels that I’d like to collaborate with someone on. I can draw, but I’d like to work with someone much more skilled than myself.  I’m obsessed with zombies, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be releasing some kind of zombie work.

7. What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?
The toughest criticism has honestly been from me.  Outside of that, a few people have commented about the title, and the cover.  A little too risqué.  But my mother is cool with it so….  With a title that has the word “masturbator” in it, I have to expect some disapproval.   But still, those who said something about the cover and/or title enjoyed the book.   A friend told me she didn’t like my pseudonym.  She said something along the lines of, “Do you think Oprah’s going to interview you with a name like Kitty K. Free?”  I don’t know; maybe if she read the book she might.
I’ve received so much positive feedback, that I can’t narrow it down to the best.  One that struck me was a review on Amazon from a reader who said, she had to put the book down because she didn’t think she could get through it, due to the subject matter. By the end of the review she said, “In the end, you'll be sitting in complete awe.”  Another reviewer said that every woman she should read it. I agree with her:).

8. Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers?
I’m still an aspiring writer myself.  I’m not anywhere yet.  I guess I’d say, just believe in yourself; have a good team of loyal friends around you.  If not, then team “me, myself & I” works fine too.  Learn your craft.  You don’t have to know everything about writing, but know a lot about it. Don’t be stubborn and think you know everything.  Read a lot, and never stop learning.  As for specific writing advice; I’ve been told writers should write every day.  I don’t write every day.  Not on paper anyway.  All those thoughts about your stories in your mind are part of the writing process.  And don’t take too much advice.  There are so many ways to live this life we have.  Listen, and keep an open mind, but, ultimately, you have to do what’s best for you.  Don’t be afraid to fall down, and don’t be afraid to be you.

9. Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult?
My mother is an avid reader.  I remember sitting on her lap while she read, White Fang, and Great Expectations, to me.  School kind of ruined reading for me.  I hated having to read what they wanted.  Then finally we read Catcher in the Rye, in either the seventh or eighth grade, and I fell in love with it.  I also read, Carrie, around that time, and started reading a lot of Stephen King. My mother introduced me to Richard Bachman novels.  I found it amazing that Stephen King wrote under more than one name.   Like, it was ok to have different personalities; just use a different name to express them.  My mom had a collection of everything from John Norman, to Donald Goines, to a stash of erotica (which she didn’t know I knew about), to Alice Walker.  She reads a lot of history books too.  I’m a writer because of how much she loves books.
Terry McMillan, is one of my biggest influences.  I started reading her books in high school.  Her communication of emotion is so fluid that I was instantly caught up. Her books are the first to ever make me cry.  Both happy and sad tears.  Arthur Nersesian is another influence.  I started reading him just a few years ago.  His writing style is so gritty; so New York.  I just love his work.
Every issue of Heavy Metal, inspires me.
This list will go on forever, so I’ll end it with one of my heroes, Nikki Giovanni.  I’m a poet before anything else.  Since childhood, poetry has been my friend and my therapy.  My mother is not into poetry, so there wasn’t much in my home.  It wasn’t until my late twenties that I’d even read a book of poetry, on my own. I’d already written a slew of poems, when I finally bought, Nikki Giovanni’s, The Women and the Men.  Now, I’m not cocky, but I’m nice with my poetry.  After reading her poems, I damn near wanted to tear up everything I’d ever written.

10. Is there anything that you would like to say to your readers and fans?
Yes – read my books!  Seriously, to anyone that has taken the time to read my novel, or that will take time to read my future novels and work, THANK YOU! I truly appreciate you, and you can drop me a line anytime at kittykfree@kittykfree.com.  And please support art and music in schools.  Art, in any of its many forms, is directly and indirectly the foundation of ingenuity.

RIM's Reviews Dangerous Pleasures by Fiona Zedde

Dangerous Pleasures by Fiona Zedde

Two friends who are brought together by schoolyard drama are forever inseparable. Mayson met Renee when her family moved from Jamaica to Dana Point, when the other kids picked on her for her accent Renee defended her; and for the rest of their lives they would defend each other. Renee would need defending for her choice to end her marriage of too many changes. Her ex-husband Linc always trying to change her to what he wants versus who she really is and with Mayson being a lesbian she needs to be defended from her ex flings that sometimes want more than a fling.

Renee is tired of being sweet, innocent, a damsel in distress Renee. After the divorce, she no longer sees the benefits of a traditional relationship other than the sex. Since there is nothing else she feels like she can control other than her sex partner she decides to do something for herself. So after much deliberation and some ill advice from Mayson, Renee signs up for an online dating site and finds someone to her liking and begins to get her groove back.

Mayson is never in a rut as far as sex goes; anytime she needs a fix she thumbs through her black book and finds someone to scratch the itch. However she has one rule; she does not have any desire to be a straight woman’s experiment into the art of lesbian sex.  As Mayson avoids relationships for booty calls, she finds herself in a ticklish position; she is now the center of a straight woman’s fantasies, which of course goes against her rule. Mayson soon realizes that fantasies can turn deadly.

Here we see love has no gender, has no hurt and sometimes has no sense of time. As each woman is forced to take off the blindfold, no matter the material it is made of, and see each other and herself for what they are. Decisions that can not be made by society’s standards or even the ones that can be dictated by corporate America, but from a loving heart. The heart wants what the heart wants and sometimes the easiest decision is the one that’s right in front of you.

Will the relationship between Kane and her mother be mended? Does overcoming an addiction means a happy family? Will Kane be able to have a teenage social life or will she always be a second mother?
With this novel Darrien Lee deals with the subject of addiction and the dynamics of the family. She nailed it on the head with making sure she includes the feelings of the whole family. The handling of the subject matter was very much at a level that many teens can understand. Lee places words in a way that the teenage reader is not feeling like a young child but as an adult that they are growing into.

RIM'S Review of COVETED by Mychea

RIM'S Review of Coveted by Mychea

Keep your friends close because they can become your worst enemy.

Namia has everything that any woman can ask for: money, clothes, cars, and two beautiful kids. She has everything but the true love of her husband. Because her husband cannot be faithful, she feels she has to seek love elsewhere. Will she rethink her decision or will she be forced in the hands of another?

Kaden is the husband of Naima. This sexy NFL star feels that he is God’s gift and can have anything or anyone he wants. He is cheating with someone that is a little too close to home. When Kaden is caught will he and this mystery person receive the forgiveness that they need and want?

Amber and Damir have been in a rollercoaster relationship for quite some time. Damir is at a point where he wants to let it all go and find true love. Amber has invested a lot of time into Damir and will not let him go without a good fight. A huge change is in store for this couple. Will this change force Damir to rethink his decision or will Amber lose the love of her life?

Will any of these relationships work out despite all the problems that are around? Who is Emeri and what does she have to do with everyone?

Covented is drama from the first page. To be a debut novel, the storyline, details, and interaction of the characters are on the level of a seasoned, certain, author. At times, you will get confused but the author makes sure that the reader understands the relationships and all the connections of the character. Mychea also is very talented to keep the readers wondering about the next action.

Readers In Motion's Review of Young Savage by Rasheed Carter

Young Savage by Rasheed Carter

My grandmother always told me “You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself”. The people in Rodney’s neighborhood called him “Savage” because of his poor appearance, but unknowingly those same people turned him into the Fierce, Violent and Uncontrollable force or simply put the Young Savage he would become.

Young Savage is a gripping tale of a young man’s survival in a world where only the strong survive. With no real male guidance and a mother chasing her next fix while her revolving door of men came and went, Rodney was left to fend for himself. His only real companion was his dog Bam, another stray left alone in the world. His days are filled with hopeless dreams and hungry nights.
...
Rodney while playing in the park notices the action of the local hustler and ends up befriending the leader, Pookie, sending Rodney on journey he will never forget. I loved Rodney’s character because despite everything he was still loyal to his mother. There were a few grammatical and editorial errors that did take away from the story slightly, but overall I give this 4 stars. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fast paced and highly addictive read.

RIM's Author of the Month for March- Gerald Johnson

Reader's In Motion March
Author of the Month

Gerald Johnson

Tell us about you.
I am a Father of "several" wonderful kids. I have been writing for most of my life because my parents got me started reading and writing at a very young and impressionable age... and currently, I am in remission from an acute form of Leukemia which I must honestly say I’m still trying to get used to.

What inspired you to write your
 first book?
Well first you have to understand, My first book was written and completed when I was about 16 years old. I had found my love of sci-fi/fantasy and began reading everything I could from mythology to middle ages stories and just loved the idea of swords and sorcery and dragons...etc. So after reading about Conan the Barbarian and similar stories and playing Dungeons and Dragons I began to write along that genre. Sadly that book was recently lost when my mom's house flooded and a lot of my papers and some of my books were destroyed. Since those days I’ve allowed myself to explore different means of literary expression just because I do love to write and I try to write daily.

How much of the book is realistic?
-Of My two new books, Liquid Eroticism & Pitch Darke: the Poetic Chronicles of Damien Darke, both of which have been recently published; Pitch Darke is more like My Darker side as it conveys several years of my life over the course of relationships from friendships to marriage and of course several other moments from pains to moments of levity through my use of poetic prose. A lot of these poems were written years ago and saved over the course of time in the hopes of one day putting together this book and I have to say thank you to my publishing company for believing in my work with this book as well as Liquid Eroticism.

What books have most influenced
 your life most?
To be truthful, the books that influenced my writing life the most I read when I was younger and pushed me into my first genre of writing which was sci-fi and fantasy. I am a huge Robert Howard fan and I do believe I have read just about every Conan the Barbarian book he wrote. I have a collection of his Conan books in my library including some that were copy written back in the late 60s. The overall influence was that those books allowed me to use and then expand my imagination and opened my mind to my own thoughts were my writing was concerned. It was as if a floodgate had been opened and once I began to write it was impossible to stop and to this day I’m still that way. I love to write and I love that when I do get into that zone it’s like watching a movie in my head and then putting it all into words. Mr. Howard opened that zone for me and if he was still alive he would definitely be one of those persons Id love to meet.

What are your current projects?
-Currently, I am quite busy with a couple of different projects, but my most important one is my very first Urban (I do hope this is politically correct) Lit book that I have named Tainted: the Book of Revelations. This is the story of a young bride who is pretty much "innocent" in the ways of the streets and she finds herself caught up in her new husband's true business nature after he decides he is going to groom her to take over operations when he realizes he has been poisoned by is business partners. Now she has to grow up and find her ruthless side in order to take over the business, and in the end a few things are going to be revealed to those she must now deal with in order to survive. If all goes well with this book it will be the first of 3 in a series. I am hoping to have the last of the book written by the end of March with editing and proofing done for an April or May release.

Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
Her very first words to me when we finally introduced ourselves to one another was, "I've been watching you and your work for quite a while," and she had been. I went back into my fan page on Facebook and I found where she had initially liked it almost 6 to 8 months prior to us talking for the first time. She could tell me about some of the poems and short story works I had on the page. After talking for a little bit, which we did at a Starbucks in Jacksonville, FL, she told me that she would love to help me do something she could tell I wanted and that was get my work published. That's exactly what she did, Dawn Rivers has definitely been one of the most influential people I know where my writing, graphics, and my life overall is concerned. She has become a great friend and an important part of my life and I would never want to replace her. Thank you Ms. Rivers for everything.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
What I would tell readers would depend on 2 things... 1 if you are a writer and you’re reading this please do me one big favor... write...write... and write some more... even if you feel that you don’t have anything to write or what you’re writing will make no sense still write. the more you write the more you’ll find you have something to say. and 2. If you are a reader please let those whose material you’re reading know what you think of what you read, good or bad, most of us really do want to know that way we can improve on what we have to offer.

For Me, I do not write because I have to, I write because I love to... I write because it is a part of who I am. Many call themselves Authors ... I call myself a Storywriter, a Minstrel, I am a Scribe of words...I write because to do otherwise would mean I’m not being true to myself.

Gerald Johnson's steamy hot novel Liqiud Eroticism can be found on Amazon and Barnes and Noble in both paperback and ebook version.

This month we are giving away a free autographed copy of his novel Liqiud Eroticism. The winner of the novel will be chosen at random at the end of the month. Sure make sure you leave a comment to be enter.

RIM's Review of Caught Up By Jacob “JB” Burrage

RIM's Review of
Caught Up By Jacob “JB” Burrage

It was interesting how one moment changed everything for successful author Jeremiah Blackwood; and how sitting at the bus stop would put his world into super orbit. That day he meet a woman named Shirley, and while taking her from her man wasn't the plan, neither was all the hell that opened up from her existence in his life. As their crazy alignment becomes a relationship; lies, secrets, and other people, have Jeremiah wishing he had driven the day he meet her.

They exchanged numbers, chatted for a few days, and then Shirley made her move. After all the complaining about her man, she just needed someone to love her. How could he deny her when she possessed one of the best bodies he had ever seen? They had sex until the morning, yet Jeremiah awakes to an empty bed. This would happen a lot after their late night rendezvous. Finally as any man would, he forces her to decide choose him or her man. What he gets in response shakes his core and she chooses neither instead make moves with a woman.

As Shirley leads Jeremiah through a on again, off again, relationship he sexes down a few willing females: including Shirley's new girlfriend. The repercussions of her unwillingness to make a man or woman her main attraction leads this cast through some life or death situations.

The hypocrisy of the double standard is displayed frequently. While socially acceptable for a man to sleep around, a woman does it she is called everything but a woman when displays the exact same behavior. The author does however slightly redeem themselves and makes mention for men to take heed that the game they have so longed played is now being perfected by women.

Love has no shape, color, race, and nowadays gender, yet can be disguised by lust. Lust is the physical need to have someone where love is the desire of another's affection. Lust drives the hearts of men to kill for a one night stand, when love knows there are no more one nights there is only every night.

RIM's Review of Yesterday’s Lies by Terri D

RIM's Review of Yesterday’s Lies by Terri D

Oh, what a tangled web we weave; when first we practice to deceive! Yesterday’s Lies is just that, a tangled web of lies and deceit. Toni and David have been together since high school, Jada, Toni’s best friend since high school, and Benjamin, David’s friend since childhood hook up as well. During their senior year of college things take a turn for the worse, when one lie is told to cover up an unfortunate event, which produces more lies for years to come.

I was a little confused at first because I wasn’t sure how the characters tied in together in the beginning, eventually it became clear. This is a fast paced quick read, filled with twists and turns and a surprising revelation. I give this 3.5/4 stars due to the slight confusion in the beginning. I would recommend this to all readers looking for a surprising and suspenseful read.

RIM'S Author of the Month for February- Author SK

Reader's In Motion's
Author of the Month for February-
Author SK

Tell us about you.
First of all, thank you to Readers in Motion for choosing me as February's writer of the month! It's an honor and I appreciate it very much! My name is SK and I'm a wife and mother of one son. I was born and raised in Louisiana (the Who Dat state – Geaux Saints!) . I lived in Japan for about six years, which is where my son was born. I also lived in several other states throughout the years, including, New Mexico and Utah, before eventually moving back home.
When and why did you begin writing?
I began writing in 2010. As is true with the majority of writers, I've always been an avid reader. While growing up, I loved to escape to whatever worlds writing carried me to. I have to thank my mother for indulging my obsession because I remember many days I would bug her endlessly to take me to the library until she finally relented to get some peace. Once I walked out with an arm full of books, I would be happy and content! Several years ago, I found a site that a friend told me about and was drawn to the section where amateur writers could post their stories and have readers comment on them. I'd always thought about writing a book, but for the longest time, that's all it was – a thought. I finally garnered the courage to put a story up online and the response was great from the beginning. I wrote under the name sweetkaramel, which my readers eventually shortened to SK, and so it began.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
My genre as of now is erotic romance, but I plan on branching out to other genre's as well, mainly paranormal – with a twist!  I write the types of books I love to read, so I think that's why writing erotica comes easy. The books I enjoy reading and writing have to include a storyline, though. It can't be only sex, sex, sex. After a while that gets a little boring to me, and it has to have a touch of real life. What I write is never outrageously over the top. Readers can relate to the books and actually see themselves doing or saying certain things like my characters – or maybe what they wish they could do or say sometimes! As with anything, I do a lot a research! LOL It can be challenging to keep a reader’s attention, especially when it comes to sex scenes. Again, it has to be realistic, but hot and erotic! Anything can spark the imagination. We just have to keep our eyes open, pay attention, and let our imaginations soar!

What are your current projects?
Right now, I just finished the third installment in a series I'm writing. The series is Sin City Heat. The books go as follows: Buried Secrets (Book 1), Twisted Obsessions (Book 2), Beginning of an Eclipse (Prequel), and No Secrets No Lies (Book 3). All can be found in the form of ebooks on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The series started off as just a simple story but it grew from there and took on a life of its own. My next project is a collaboration with authors Kr Bankston and Elizabeth LaShaun, and I'm very excited about that! These two ladies are true stars in the lit game. We're still working out the details, but the way our styles mesh and complement each other’s, it's a guaranteed best seller. Be looking out for more information soon!

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I want to thank everyone who has supported me from day one. This game is not an easy one, but I think you have to actually love the craft of writing and that will come through in your work. I along with everyone else strive to reach the top of the literary world, but the love I’ve received from readers has touched my heart more than anything. I'm still fairly new to writing, and to see that so many people enjoy my work, actually look forward to reading it, is simply humbling for me, so I thank the readers from the bottom of my heart! As long as they want to read it, I'll write it!

RIM'S Review of Seven Days Seven Nights: More Skeletons Revealed by L'Miginon

RIM's Review
of Seven Days Seven Nights:
More Skeletons Revealed
 by L'Miginon
It’s the day that all girls wait for. Pretty white dress, friends and family, and the man of their dreams. But on this day, everything is at the church except the bride-to-be. McKenzie Johnson decided that the man at the altar that she has been in a long up and down engagement is not the man that she wants to marry. So she decides to not go on with it but to take a 7 day and 7 night cruise with Adair, the stripper from her bachelorette party.

When McKenzie takes upon this cruise with Adair she sees it as a chance to not think about what the past year has brought about her, but to just have fun and enjoy herself. All that starts to change however as the emotional connection and sexual desire between her and Adair becomes too much to handle. Seven Days and seven nights have come and gone and it is time to face the real world again.

McKenzie now has to deal with the consequences of leaving Milton at the altar with no warning except a letter. Will she forget about the time that she spent with Adair and try to give her relationship with the man she once loved another try or will she move on and find a new love with a new man?

L’Mignion has knocked another book out of the park. I was hooked on this book from day one. Seven Days and Seven Nights picked right up from where her debut novel, Skeletons in the Closet, left off. A plus is that the reader does not necessarily have to read the first novel to be able to understand this novel. The author gives McKenzie a “real woman’s mind” as well a realistic character with all the emotions included.
This book was a very fast paced, action, and sexually packed novel. Again well done!!!

RIM's Review of Lessons on Church Folk - Volume 1 & 2 by Antoinette Marie Davis

RIM's Review of
Lessons on Church Folk - Volume 1 & 2
by Antoinette Marie Davis

Lessons on Church Folks Vol. 1 and 2 are novels that bring to light many issues that are found in the everyday twentieth -century church. These short stories contained in these novels are there to entertain but also show the seriousness in the issues that are spoken about. The book covers issues from backbiting (gossiping) to adultery. Each story starts with a short paragraph explaining the issue and then a short parable or example of the issue.

In some cases, I love the format of the book. The size of the book could be intimidatingto a new reader but on the other hand great for the reader that cannot sit and read a full novel but just a little excerpt every day. The downfall of the novel is the lack of scripture references. Based on the writing presented, there is a feeling that most of the book was skewed toward negativity of those that attended church as a regular practice. If one were a weak-minded or simply or unaware of the positives of religious worship gathering, on would never return to a church or visit a church after reading this.

This reviewer wishes that the author would have given just a little more to the novel than a “parable a day”.

Readers In Motion Author Spotlight of September 2010- Author Lady La

Readers In Motion Author
Spotlight of September 2010-
Author Lady La

1. Tell us a little about you.
I’m a mother of three girls. I’ve been a Paralegal/Legal Office Assistant since 2003. I graduated from Robert Morris College with my Associates Degree in Applied Science, with my major being Paralegal/Legal Office Assistant. I’ve been writing poetry since my Freshman year of High School.

2. How did you come up with the idea for your book?
This is going to sound crazy. But I dreamt of my book, before I knew I wanted to write one. My book came to me in a dream and I woke up the next morning and sat at my computer and wrote half of my book right there on the spot.

3. Hollywood is calling your book. Who would you like to see play the part of your main characters?
Samantha, I can see being played by Nia Long.
Lester – I can see being played by Morris Chestnut
Louise – I can see being played by Taraji P. Henson
Eric – I can see being played by Michael Ealy

4. What would you consider your writing style?
Urban Romance. I’m a hopeless romantic and love, romance and drama, come easy for me. I have so much inspiration around me every day. I try to find ways to use what I see or hear and translate it into a story or situation and then move on and try to work it into a book. Everyone has relationship/marital issues, but not everyone wants to talk about it. So I that with me when writing. Sometimes it’s challenging, because I don’t want my characters to all have the same problems every time I write, but I want to broaden my horizon and explore all possibilities as far as relationships and marriage goes.

5. Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Yes. JReal, Traci Bee, Kr Bankston, Shante Hannon and Cotton Carpenter to name a few.

6. Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
I learned alot! But what I’ve learned and continue to use is that I have to be true to my work. I can’t let anyone try and change my vision. My writing reflects me as a person, and if I let someone change that, then the readers won’t get the chance to know me as a writer.

7. Who designed the covers?
Donna OsbornClark of Creations By Donna.

8. If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? And why?
I would have to say Marlon Mccaulsky. He is very supportive of my works. Even before I decided to pen Which Way To Turn, I was going to publish my first book of poems. He has given me insight, pointers, direction and most of all his support. He’s believed in me since day one and I cherish that. He has showed me that you can have a fan base and still be down to earth and humble in whatever you do. To take criticism for exactly what it is. If I can learn from it, then take what I can use and run with it, the rest leave it where it is.

9. Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Yes. Giving my characters their own voice and sense of direction and to make it unique and different. When writing multiple characters, you want them each to stand out in their own way and possibly have a message that the readers can take and learn from.

10. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I want to say THANK YOU for reading my work. I hope that I don’t disappoint you, and I hope to keep you all as avid readers. I hope that you find a message in each book that I write. Rather it helps you or someone you know.

RIM'S Review of Beautiful Disasters by Dawn Jaspers

Beautiful Disasters by Dawn Jaspers

Anika Conners is a woman born from hurt and pain. Her conception was that of rape from a whiteman in a small town in South Carolina where racism still looms. She is determined to get even with the man that took her mother’s life, but the question is will she get back at the right man. Along this journey of her revenge, she also plans on making a pit stop to get back at her half sister; Lisa. She is doing this to her sister to make sure that she does not receive her part of the inheritance left by their father. So Anika makes it a point to let everyone know her sister’s true secret.

Akina also has a strong sexual craving. While falling in love with Tatyana Simmons she was unknowingly sleeping with Tatyana’s husband, David Walters who is in in love with her. But she wants none of them after a chance meeting with an old friend from high school, Eric. The passion between Eric and Anika starts off as just that passion but the passion is turning into love. But Anika is not ready for true love or is she?

So many sub stories that are linked to one story is what I can sum up the concept of this book to be and Dawn Jasper could have not done this better. There was at no point where I was confused about any of the plot lines. The Author gave this character the hurt and pain that any person in this situation would feel. The book has such a smooth flow that it was finished in one day. I cannot wait until the sequel comes out.
