Tell us about you.

First of all, thank you to Readers in Motion for choosing me as February's writer of the month! It's an honor and I appreciate it very much! My name is SK and I'm a wife and mother of one son. I was born and raised in Louisiana (the Who Dat state – Geaux Saints!) . I lived in Japan for about six years, which is where my son was born. I also lived in several other states throughout the years, including, New Mexico and Utah, before eventually moving back home.

When and why did you begin writing?

I began writing in 2010. As is true with the majority of writers, I've always been an avid reader. While growing up, I loved to escape to whatever worlds writing carried me to. I have to thank my mother for indulging my obsession because I remember many days I would bug her endlessly to take me to the library until she finally relented to get some peace. Once I walked out with an arm full of books, I would be happy and content! Several years ago, I found a site that a friend told me about and was drawn to the section where amateur writers could post their stories and have readers comment on them. I'd always thought about writing a book, but for the longest time, that's all it was – a thought. I finally garnered the courage to put a story up online and the response was great from the beginning. I wrote under the name sweetkaramel, which my readers eventually shortened to SK, and so it began.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

My genre as of now is erotic romance, but I plan on branching out to other genre's as well, mainly paranormal – with a twist!  I write the types of books I love to read, so I think that's why writing erotica comes easy. The books I enjoy reading and writing have to include a storyline, though. It can't be only sex, sex, sex. After a while that gets a little boring to me, and it has to have a touch of real life. What I write is never outrageously over the top. Readers can relate to the books and actually see themselves doing or saying certain things like my characters – or maybe what they wish they could do or say sometimes! As with anything, I do a lot a research! LOL It can be challenging to keep a reader’s attention, especially when it comes to sex scenes. Again, it has to be realistic, but hot and erotic! Anything can spark the imagination. We just have to keep our eyes open, pay attention, and let our imaginations soar!

What are your current projects?

Right now, I just finished the third installment in a series I'm writing. The series is Sin City Heat. The books go as follows: Buried Secrets (Book 1), Twisted Obsessions (Book 2), Beginning of an Eclipse (Prequel), and No Secrets No Lies (Book 3). All can be found in the form of ebooks on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The series started off as just a simple story but it grew from there and took on a life of its own. My next project is a collaboration with authors Kr Bankston and Elizabeth LaShaun, and I'm very excited about that! These two ladies are true stars in the lit game. We're still working out the details, but the way our styles mesh and complement each other’s, it's a guaranteed best seller. Be looking out for more information soon!

 Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

I want to thank everyone who has supported me from day one. This game is not an easy one, but I think you have to actually love the craft of writing and that will come through in your work. I along with everyone else strive to reach the top of the literary world, but the love I’ve received from readers has touched my heart more than anything. I'm still fairly new to writing, and to see that so many people enjoy my work, actually look forward to reading it, is simply humbling for me, so I thank the readers from the bottom of my heart! As long as they want to read it, I'll write it!

It’s the day that all girls wait for. Pretty white dress, friends and family, and the man of their dreams. But on this day, everything is at the church except the bride-to-be. McKenzie Johnson decided that the man at the altar that she has been in a long up and down engagement is not the man that she wants to marry. So she decides to not go on with it but to take a 7 day and 7 night cruise with Adair, the stripper from her bachelorette party.

When McKenzie takes upon this cruise with Adair she sees it as a chance to not think about what the past year has brought about her, but to just have fun and enjoy herself. All that starts to change however as the emotional connection and sexual desire between her and Adair becomes too much to handle. Seven Days and seven nights have come and gone and it is time to face the real world again.

McKenzie now has to deal with the consequences of leaving Milton at the altar with no warning except a letter. Will she forget about the time that she spent with Adair and try to give her relationship with the man she once loved another try or will she move on and find a new love with a new man?

L’Mignion has knocked another book out of the park. I was hooked on this book from day one. Seven Days and Seven Nights picked right up from where her debut novel, Skeletons in the Closet, left off. A plus is that the reader does not necessarily have to read the first novel to be able to understand this novel. The author gives McKenzie a “real woman’s mind” as well a realistic character with all the emotions included.
This book was a very fast paced, action, and sexually packed novel. Again well done!!!

Lessons on Church Folks Vol. 1 and 2 are novels that bring to light many issues that are found in the everyday twentieth -century church. These short stories contained in these novels are there to entertain but also show the seriousness in the issues that are spoken about. The book covers issues from backbiting (gossiping) to adultery. Each story starts with a short paragraph explaining the issue and then a short parable or example of the issue.

In some cases, I love the format of the book. The size of the book could be intimidatingto a new reader but on the other hand great for the reader that cannot sit and read a full novel but just a little excerpt every day. The downfall of the novel is the lack of scripture references. Based on the writing presented, there is a feeling that most of the book was skewed toward negativity of those that attended church as a regular practice. If one were a weak-minded or simply or unaware of the positives of religious worship gathering, on would never return to a church or visit a church after reading this.

This reviewer wishes that the author would have given just a little more to the novel than a “parable a day”.

1. Tell us a little about you.

I’m a mother of three girls. I’ve been a Paralegal/Legal Office Assistant since 2003. I graduated from Robert Morris College with my Associates Degree in Applied Science, with my major being Paralegal/Legal Office Assistant. I’ve been writing poetry since my Freshman year of High School.

2. How did you come up with the idea for your book?

This is going to sound crazy. But I dreamt of my book, before I knew I wanted to write one. My book came to me in a dream and I woke up the next morning and sat at my computer and wrote half of my book right there on the spot.

3. Hollywood is calling your book. Who would you like to see play the part of your main characters?

Samantha, I can see being played by Nia Long.

Lester – I can see being played by Morris Chestnut

Louise – I can see being played by Taraji P. Henson

Eric – I can see being played by Michael Ealy

4. What would you consider your writing style?

Urban Romance. I’m a hopeless romantic and love, romance and drama, come easy for me. I have so much inspiration around me every day. I try to find ways to use what I see or hear and translate it into a story or situation and then move on and try to work it into a book. Everyone has relationship/marital issues, but not everyone wants to talk about it. So I that with me when writing. Sometimes it’s challenging, because I don’t want my characters to all have the same problems every time I write, but I want to broaden my horizon and explore all possibilities as far as relationships and marriage goes.

5. Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

Yes. JReal, Traci Bee, Kr Bankston, Shante Hannon and Cotton Carpenter to name a few.

6. Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

I learned alot! But what I’ve learned and continue to use is that I have to be true to my work. I can’t let anyone try and change my vision. My writing reflects me as a person, and if I let someone change that, then the readers won’t get the chance to know me as a writer.

8. If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? And why?

I would have to say Marlon Mccaulsky. He is very supportive of my works. Even before I decided to pen Which Way To Turn, I was going to publish my first book of poems. He has given me insight, pointers, direction and most of all his support. He’s believed in me since day one and I cherish that. He has showed me that you can have a fan base and still be down to earth and humble in whatever you do. To take criticism for exactly what it is. If I can learn from it, then take what I can use and run with it, the rest leave it where it is.

9. Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Yes. Giving my characters their own voice and sense of direction and to make it unique and different. When writing multiple characters, you want them each to stand out in their own way and possibly have a message that the readers can take and learn from.

10. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

I want to say THANK YOU for reading my work. I hope that I don’t disappoint you, and I hope to keep you all as avid readers. I hope that you find a message in each book that I write. Rather it helps you or someone you know.

Anika Conners is a woman born from hurt and pain. Her conception was that of rape from a whiteman in a small town in South Carolina where racism still looms. She is determined to get even with the man that took her mother’s life, but the question is will she get back at the right man. Along this journey of her revenge, she also plans on making a pit stop to get back at her half sister; Lisa. She is doing this to her sister to make sure that she does not receive her part of the inheritance left by their father. So Anika makes it a point to let everyone know her sister’s true secret.



Akina also has a strong sexual craving. While falling in love with Tatyana Simmons she was unknowingly sleeping with Tatyana’s husband, David Walters who is in in love with her. But she wants none of them after a chance meeting with an old friend from high school, Eric. The passion between Eric and Anika starts off as just that passion but the passion is turning into love. But Anika is not ready for true love or is she?



So many sub stories that are linked to one story is what I can sum up the concept of this book to be and Dawn Jasper could have not done this better. There was at no point where I was confused about any of the plot lines. The Author gave this character the hurt and pain that any person in this situation would feel. The book has such a smooth flow that it was finished in one day. I cannot wait until the sequel comes out.
